DIG gives fog warning, travel suggestions to travellers

LAHORE: National Highways and Motorway Police’s N-5 Central DIG Muhammad Shafique on Wednesday said that though fog was a natural phenomenon and beyond human control, damage to human life and property could however be lowered by taking “better measures within our control”.

While directing the officers linked with the central zone of the Motorway ‘to make extraordinary measures to ensure that road users were safe during their foggy weather travels, the top cop said the Motorway Police’s patrol officers should perform their duty with full devotion and professionalism

“The accident ratio can go up during the foggy conditions and criminals could also take advantage of the poor weather to strike the travellers,” he told the officers. He also asked them to make all-out efforts to brief the motorists that during the foggy weather, they should limit their travels between 10 am and 6 pm, drive slowly, maintain safe distance, ensure that fog lights and wipers are in working condition and contact the Motorway Police helpline 130 for guidance about road and weather conditions before the start of their journey. – Dailytimes
