Local knowledge of the golf course and some accomplished performances by the strong 26 member golf team team spearheaded by Lt Gen(r) Muhammed Tariq took the Royal Palm team up the winners rostrum in the Inter Club Golf Match against the Lahore Gymkhana team after 18 holes of demanding golf,on the Quaid Day , at the extensively prepared Royal Palm golf arena.
The scores at end of the competition aggregated to 33 points for Royal Palm and 19 points for Gymkhana,and the margin of victory looking superb and giving the contest a one sided look.
Royal Palm owes its success to some extremely good play in the four ball matches by team pairings of RazaAli Khan/Abbas Ali Khan, Faisal Sayid/ Asad Amin Sheikh, Sardar Murad/ Shoaeb Shams, Omer Salamat/ Sharjeel Awan, Ramzan Sheikh/Lt Gen Muhammed Tariq, Farid Malik/ Omair Butt, and Tariq Mushtaq/ Asadullah Khan. In the singles contests the outstanding performers for Royal Palm were Faisal Sayid, Sardar Murad, Shoaeb Shams, Azfar Hassan, Omer Salamat, Sharjeel Awan, Ramazan Sheikh, Lt Gen M.Tariq, Max Babri, Hamid Sharif, Fareed Malik, Omair Butt, Haris Naseer, Rizwan Shafi, Tariq Mushtaq and Asadullah Khan.
The front runners for Gymkhana team in the four ball contests were the pairings of Aleemu Rehman/Taimur Shabbir, Nauman Haider/Ahmed Rafi , Omer Zia/ Taha Zaka , and Tariq Misbah/ Saquib Aziz.
In the individual competitions those who won their matches for Gymkhana were Ahmed Zafar Hayat, Waleed Zubair, Nasir Irshad, Salman Jehangir, Nauman Hyder, Shehryar Anwar, Omer Zia, and Tariq Misbah.
Through some dominating play and impressive application of golfing skills, Royal Palm accumulated 16 points in the four ball match contests as against 10 by Gymkhana players and in the singles Royal Palm Team Members managed to secure 17 points as against 9 by Gymkhana players.The total points add upto 33 for Royal Palm and Gymkhana got 19.
At the conclusion of the Inter Club Match, Amer Mehmood, Captain Golf of Lahore Gymkhana handed over the glittering trophy to Lt.GenM.Tariq, Captain Royal Palm Golf Club.
