In what appears to be an attempt to lower political temperature in the city, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has said his party will welcome Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in Karachi.

He also congratulated in advance the PTI chairman for his party’s public meeting to be held in Azizabad on April 19 in connection with the April 23 by-election on a National Assembly seat (NA-246). Mr Hussain asked the PTI to maintain the sanctity of a martyrs’ monument, Yadgar-i-Shuhada-i-Haq, in the ground during their function. He said the MQM candidate would emerge victorious in the by-election.
