ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday issued schedule for Presidential Election fixing the dates for withdrawal and the poll as July 29th and August 6th respectively.
While deciding a pending case, the Supreme Court had fixed the dates for above activities as July 27th, for withdrawal and July 30th for the poll vide its order dated July 24th, 2013 passed in CP No.39/2013 and directed the Commission to revise the election schedule accordingly, which has already been issued on July 24th, 2013.
Some political parties and candidates for election to the office of the President have raised objection as to the issuance of revised programme by the Election Commission on the ground that by changing the date for poll they have been deprived of their right to run their election campaign, as enough time has not been given to them for canvassing for votes.
The Commission has clarified that it has issued the revised programme in compliance with the aforesaid order of the Apex court and if anybody is aggrieved from that order of the court he may approach the Apex Court for seeking review of its order in accordance with law. – APP
