Robbers in Police Uniform Raid Wedding Party

LAHORE – Dacoits clad in police uniforms stormed into a wedding party, held up the guests at gun-point and snatched away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 2.6 million in Factory Area police limits, police sources claimed on Tuesday.

Tariq told the police that four dacoits in police uniforms forced their entry into the wedding ceremony that was taking place in Gulistan Colony. The bandits disguised as cops first searched the participants, then took out guns, and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables. Police is investigating. In another incident, dacoits also barged into the house of Azhar in Manga Mandi police vicinity and snatched away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 2.3 million after holding the inmates hostage at gun-point.

Police sources also said that robbers looted several houses in Nawab Town, Satu Katla, Gujjarpura, Nishtar Colony and Hanjarwal police areas and fled away after collecting cash and gold ornaments worth millions of rupees. Meanwhile, three cars were stolen away from Defence, Iqbal Town, and Shera Kot police areas while four motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from Township, Manawan, Shalimar and Batapura police areas. ‘Robber’ flees custody: An alleged robber managed to escape from the lockup of Mozang police station, police sources said on Tuesday. Police investigators said that the accused, identified as Shan Shaukat, was on three-day judicial remand. Two policemen including Moharra Riaz Hussain and Constable Faqir Hussain have been suspended from service on the charges of negligence. The police have also registered a case against the policemen.

Arrested: City police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a fake Superintendent of Police (SP), who reached the old Anarkali police station to influence police officers late on Monday night. Police said that Jahangir alias Jango, who had introduced himself as SP to the DSP old Anarkali, is a notorious drug pusher. The accused first telephoned the DSP, introduced himself as SP Raiwind, and later reached the police station and started abusing the policemen. On suspicion, the SHO recovered the mobile phone from his pocket. The police have arrested the ‘SP’ and put him behind the lockup. Further investigations are underway.

Abducted: Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped a contactor from Shahdara area, police said. The abductors, however, have not demanded ransom from the victim’s family yet, police claimed.

Unidentified gunmen abducted Muhammad Aslam, said to be the owner of a construction company late on Monday night and took him to unknown place. Police said that the kidnappers had contacted Aslam, the resident of Begum Park, by phone and asked him to come out of his house. As he appeared from his house, they took him alongwith them in a car at gun-point. The police have registered the case on the complaint of Javed, brother of the victim and are investigating.

Soon after the theft, police helpline service 15 was informed about the theft and later, a case was also registered in Gulberg police station.
