Karachi: A high-level meeting of police and Rangers’ officials held at central police office on Wednesday decided to constitute a joint team to conduct survey of the city areas with regard to the barriers erected illegally by the people blocking the streets and thoroughfares.
The joint survey team is being constituted following the orders of Sindh government for removal of such barriers. The meeting also reviewed the law and order situation, discussed various steps and decided to implement the joint contingency plan for controlling the situation. It was decided further to deploy more police and Rangers’ personnel in sensitive and affected areas besides setting up joint pickets and exchanging intelligence reports.
Besides conducting coordinated actions in affected areas, sector commanders of Rangers and zonal DIGs of police were directed to convene joint meetings at their level. The meeting decided that Rangers would provide swift back up support to the police in case of any untoward incident. IGP Sindh Mushtaq Shah, DG Rangers Maj Gen Rizwan Akhtar, Brig Waseem, Brig Javed, Brig Basit, Col Salman, Col Shafique, Additional IG Special Branch Rasool Bux Saand, DIGs East, West and South and AIG Operations Sindh attended the meeting. -Dailytimes
