KARACHI: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Wajid Ali Khan Durrani on Tuesday presided over a meeting called to review the law and order situation with special reference to the performance of police officials posted in the field and the prosecution branch.Additional IG Sindh Falak Khursheed, Additional IG Karachi Saud Ahmed, DIG Police Headquarters Sindh Sardar Abdul Majid, DIG Establishment Shahid Hayat, Zonal DIGs and other senior police officials attended the meeting.
Durrani expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing police offensives against the criminal elements. He stressed upon the officials to continue their hard work so that stable peace could be maintained. He directed for intense police patrolling in Karachi and suburban areas besides deployment of plain-clothed and uniformed officials at various places. He further directed for strict action against criminals dealing in narcotics and gambling dens within the city.
“This would not only eliminate nuisance from the society but also be helpful in building a better image of police”, Durrani said. He ordered that the transfers and postings of police officials should be done purely on merit, keeping in view their professional acumen.IGP also directed to furnish details about vacancies in all branches of Sindh Police besides regularising the promotion system. He also directed AIG Legal to provide list of registered cases along with status of challan cases and all other relevant details.“The prosecution branch should be strengthened on modern lines and recommendations should be forwarded in this regard at the earliest”, the IGP added.
