LAHORE: Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry admonished a Punjab Assembly (PA) member belonging to the PML-N, Ch Muhammad Asadullah, who had been involved in the illegal transfer of a petitioner clerk, Fiazullah Bhatti. The CJ threatened to cancel Asadullah’s assembly membership if he continued with such practices in the future.Meanwhile, the CJ cancelled the transfer orders of the clerk. Earlier, the CJ had summoned the executive district officer (EDO) and the said MPA, who appeared in the court on Monday and informed that the petitioner’s transfer order had been withdrawn.

The CJ admonished Asadullah and asked him to remain careful in the future or he might end up losing his assembly membership. Asadullah tendered his unconditional apology and admitted that he had made a mistake. The apology was accepted by the CJ and he disposed of the petition after the petitioner’s transfer order had been cancelled. The petitioner’s counsel had submitted that Faiz was working as a junior clerk in the accounts branch of district office, buildings, Hafizabad (DO) from where he was transferred to the accounts branch of the same office on July 9, 2010. But after some time, executive district officer (water and services) Hafizabad reversed the transfer order.

He said that after 18 days, he was again transferred on July 19, 2011 to the EDO (W&S) Hafizabad without any reason. The counsel submitted that the transfer was politically influenced since the MPA had nursed a grudge against his client after he refused to side with him in an illegal activity. He had requested for the cancellation of the transfer order.Somali national: Justice Abdus Sattar Asghar of the Lahore High Court (LHC), on Monday, summoned camp jail superintendent and Services Hospital medical superintendent (MS) on bail application of an accused Somali national, Abdullahi Hallane, who was allegedly involved in illegal kidney transplant.

The judge directed both the respondents to appear on September 16 with complete case record of the petitioner.Hallane’s counsel submitted that his client was in a critical condition and was receiving treatment at the Services Hospital, therefore, he should be granted the concession of bail, adding that Hallane had nothing to do with the illegal transplantation of kidneys. The counsel requested grant of bail to his client, stating that his life could otherwise be brought in danger owing to his critical health condition.

According to the prosecution, police, on July 7, had uncovered an illegal kidney transplant business at a small house in Ameeruddin Park in North Cantonment that had been in working since December 2010. The police arrested doctors and patients present in the clinic at the time. The foreigner arrested from the house was identified as Abdullahi Halane, a national of Somalia. He had agreed to pay $30,000 to the doctors for the kidney transplant and was visiting Pakistan on a family-visit visa for 45 days that was valid till October 3. – Dailytimes
