LAHORE: Muslims across the country including Lahore will observe Jumatul Wida, last Friday of the holy month of fasting, today with religious zeal and reverence amid elaborate security arrangements. They will visit mosques to offer Juma prayers on the day that has key significance in the Ramazan.
Ulema and Khatibs will deliver special sermons on importance of the day and the month of fasting, urging Muslims to enter Islam fully and follow Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Special prayers will be offered for unity among the Ummah, and prosperity and solidarity of the country.Law enforcement agencies have made tight security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident on Jumatul Wida and Eidul Fitr. The police will deploy heavy contingents outside mosques, parking areas, Eidgahs, shrines and shopping markets.
Punjab government Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa chaired a meeting to review the arrangement here Thursday. Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Political Assistant to CM Col (r) Shuja Khanzada, MNAs Marghub Ahmad, Malik Muhammad Riaz, MPA Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Punjab chief secretary, DIG Operations, Additional Home Secretary and secretaries of Prosecution, Auqaf, Local Government and Secretary Health, Lahore Division Commissioner and DCO attended the meeting.The meeting was told that besides volunteers, a heavy contingent of police would be deployed at shrines whereas walkthrough gates and metal detectors would also be provided.
Zulfiqar Khosa while appreciating the security arrangements at the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA) congratulated and thanked the provincial ministers and police officials. He also issued instructions regarding security arrangements on Jumatul Wida and Eid and directed that the security around big mosques and shrines be increased. Also, the services of volunteers of social organisations will be sought for Eid shopping bazaars and markets. The meeting stressed that leaves of all police officials should be cancelled and attendance of emergency staff should also be ensured in civil defence and hospitals. It further said that the medicines and equipment of surgery should also be ensured in abundance in the hospitals. – Nation
