LAHORE: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) conducted a special cleaning activity in the Shalimar Town, Union Council No 36, area near the historic Shalimar Gardens.A press statement issued by the company on Sunday said that the cleaning squad of some 100 sanitary workers supervised by area sanitary inspector, chief sanitary inspector and assistant district officer, washed and cleaned silt from the area, starting work at 8am and ending at around 2pm on Sunday.Some 18 plots filled with solid waste and construction and demolition material were emptied and later on cleaned by the company workers during the cleaning drive. LWMC deployed 2 loaders and 8 dumpers to carry out the cleaning operation. The area MPA Waseem Qadir also paid a visit to the College Road and monitored the cleaning activity.Flyers and pamphlets containing directions for safe disposal and services of LWMC’s helpline 1139, were also disseminated among the local residents. – Dailytimes
