LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa, in a meeting on Thursday, recommended an increase in the salary of doctors who had been on strike for the last many days. Khosa sent written recommendations to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, after listening to the problems faced by young doctors.
The Punjab governor said that the most intelligent, hardworking and competent students are selected for the medical profession and after passing through difficult and crucial times in their studies they are able to get their degrees.
Doctors are assets of a country, that is why people and the government should acknowledge their services and their salary should be raised, similar to that of employees of other important departments. Providing incentives like these would encourage doctors to serve their own people rather than going abroad for practise – Dailytimes
