Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday instructed the ministries and divisions to post full information on their websites in order to keep the citizens abreast of their working and projects. The Prime Minister said public awareness is essential for good governance as it develops the stakes of people in the system. He said all ministries and divisions must appoint their spokespersons to coordinate with the national media to highlight the government’s performance in various sectors. The Prime Minister expressed these views in his meetings with the parliamentarians who called on him in his Parliament House Chamber this afternoon. He asked them to keep the government’s ministries and departments updated on the state of development projects in their respective constituencies so that the same could be communicated at mass level. The Prime Minister also asked parliamentarians to give suggestions to the government for socio-economic development in the country. He said the government’s finance team is engaged with all political parties to seek their proposals with regard to preparing comprehensive national economic agenda.

The provision of immediate relief to the masses, he added, was the priority of the government and urgent actions were being taken to devise a holistic plan in this regard.
Lauding the maturity of political parties, the Prime Minister said their consensus to strengthen democratic system and state institutions was a good omen for the country’s future. He said while the governments come and go, the political process must continue in the larger interest of the people. The parliamentarians also discussed various development schemes of their respective areas and put forward suggestions for improvement. They also informed the Prime Minister about different problems in their constituencies, who directed the concerned authorities to immediately look into the suggestions put forth by the parliamentarians.

The parliamentarians who called on the Prime Minister included Ch. Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, Minister of State for Communication, Nawabzada Ghazanfar Ali Gul, Advisor to PM on Political Affairs, Yasmeen Rehman, MNA and Muhammad Tariq Tarar, MNA. – App
