Nadra office, bridge blown up

CHARSADDA: Suspected militants blew up a bridge and an office of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) at separate places in the district on Tuesday.Sources said militants planted explosives at a link bridge in Saro Kallay area of Shabqadar. The explosives went off early in the morning with a big bang and destroyed the bridge, causing suspension of traffic on the road.They said that militants also blew up an office of Nadra in Omarzai area of the district. The office meant for issuing national identity cards to women was destroyed completely.Soon after the sabotage incidents, security forces conducted a search operation in Badi Koroona, Khanjaran, Angor Koroona, Zarif Khan Koroona. About 40 suspects were arrested during the operation.The arrested persons were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation.In Mohmand Agency, three persons were killed and three others injured when a mortar shell hit their house on Tuesday.Locals said that a stray shell fall on the house of Maulvi Mirwais in Shamshah area of Baizai tehsil, killing his son, wife and a grandson.

Two children and a woman were injured in the incident.Meanwhile, jet fighters and helicopter gunships targeted militant positions in Ghari and Kareer areas of tehsil Baizai and Rambat and Char Guli areas of tehsil Ambar in the tribal region. Several hideouts of militants were reportedly destroyed in the bombing and shelling.In another incident, a tribesman identified as Saimol was killed in a blast in Dwaizai area of tehsil Pandyali.In another incident, two rockets were fired by unidentified persons from Tanda Dam area at Kohat Bazaar on Tuesday.Sources said that the house of Mustafa was partially damaged when a rocket hit it while the second rocket landed in a garden.Meanwhile, Kohat Bazaar was closed after rumours spread about entry of a would-be suicide bomber into the area.The shopkeepers closed their shops within minutes when the hoax spread like a jungle fire.Security forces and police launched a search operation and arrested about 150 people. However, later all the detainees were freed after preliminary interrogation.Meanwhile, unidentified persons fired two missiles at Shalozan Dorawi area of upper Kurram Agency from Nari Sar area on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain.However, the missiles missed the target and landed in open fields. No damages to property or losses of lives occurred in the attack.Security forces pounded the area from where missiles were fired with artillery shelling. Locals said that the area was attacked during Eidul Azha and Yaum-i-Ashor  – Dawn
