AVLS arrests six car lifters, recovers vehicles

LAHORE: The Anti-Vehicles Lifting Staff (AVLS) Sadar and City Division Lahore have arrested six car lifters of Qadeer Hussain and Waris Masih car lifter gangs and recovered 10 cars and two rickshaws worth Rs 4,8,50000 from their possession.According to the official handout issued on Wednesday, on the directive of Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Aslam Tareen, SSP Investigation Zulfiqar Hameed directed SP CRO Sajjad Ahmad Manj to take effective measures against car lifting gangs.SP CRO constituted special teams under the supervision of AVLS DSP Saleem Mukhtar Butt. The first police team, under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Abbas, AVLS Saddar division, worked hard day and night and collected particulars and arrested three members of the Qadeer Hussain car lifting gang. The criminals of this gang have confessed to seven incidents of car lifting during investigation.The second police team under the supervision of Sub Inspector Sheas Ahmed, AVLS City division collected particulars and arrested three culprits of Waris Masih car lifter gang. The modus operandi of the criminals was that they used a master key to unlock vehicles they stole and sold them at cheap rates.The criminals are history-sheeters and around 10 cases have been traced against them in Nishter Colony, Gawalmandi, Liaqatabad, Old Anarkali, Naseerabad, Muslim Town, Mozang, Faisal Town and Ghalib Market police stations. Police have recovered 10 cars and two rickshaws worth Rs 45,50,000 from their possession.The arrested men were identified as ringleader Qadeer Hussain, Munir Ahmed, Waqar Ahmed, Waris Masih (ringleader), Javeed Masih and Sharafat Masih. Further investigations are in progress.Aslam Tareen announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police team that busted the gangs. The members of the team are ASI Abdul Latif, Head Constable Aftab Noor, Zaheer Ahmed, Asif Iqbal, Shabir Ahmed, Constable Tariq Mehmood, Ghulam Jillani, Muhammad Naeem, Zahid Hussain, Abdul Ghafoor, Faryad Ali, Shabir Ahmed and Qamarul Zaman – Dailytimes
