KUWAIT:Finance Minister, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, on Monday met with Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ahmad Rashed Al-Haroun during the Third session of Pakistan-Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).The two ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation in trade,commerce and investment and also in the fields of oil & gas, mining, agriculture and infrastructure.The meeting was followed by an impressive ceremony in which the ministers signed the agreed minutes of the Third Session of Joint Ministerial Commission.In the brief remarks made during the ceremony, the two sides expressed their commitment and the desire to forge further closer multifarious links between the two governments.Both the sides also expressed satisfaction on the proceedings of the JMC and its decisions.
The two-day JMC meeting concluded with the signing ceremony. It was agreed to hold the next session of the Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad on mutually agreed dates.
Earlier, the visiting Finance Minister Dr.Abdul Hafeez Shaikh also met with the heads of prominent business organizations in Kuwait.These included meetings with the Director General, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), Mr. Abdulwahab Al-Bader and Chairman, Kuwait’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry Ali Mohammed Thunayan Al-Ghanim.The meetings focused on enhancing trade and investment relations between the two countries.The minister informed them about the friendly investment climate in Pakistan and invited the Kuwait investors to avail those opportunities.“We feel Pakistan has a lot of investment opportunities that are available for Kuwaiti investment houses and private sectors, particularly in areas like petroleum, agriculture and infrastructure, where we have a growing population and demand like electricity, telecommunication, ports and logistic services
