ISLAMABAD: As many as 242 Pakistani companies have participated in the textile and carpets trade fairs in Germany in January. The Pakistani exhibitors participated in the Heimtextil Trade Fair held in Frankfurt from January 12-16, and Domotex Trade Fair of carpets in Hanover from January 14-17, that concluded on Monday.Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany, Shahid Kamal visited both the exhibitions and met with the Pakistani exhibitors, says a message issued by Pakistan embassy in Germany.He was apprised of issues being faced by them and the energy crisis in Pakistan affecting their production adversely.The Ambassador assured them that their concerns and problems would be conveyed to the authorities concerned for appropriate action.He urged them to spend a fair portion of their income on Research and Development as only innovative and trendy products could keep you in the market in this rapidly changing world.Shahid Kamal also met with the Director of the Board of Frankfurt Messe and Incharge of Heimtextile Fair Detlef Braun and exchanged views on the arrangements and facilities being provided by the management to the exhibitors.
He thanked for the good support extended by the government and people of Germany during recent floods in Pakistan.He also appreciated the role of Germany for the promotion of international trade. Mr. Braun thanked the Ambassador and assured that the management would continue to improve its facilities in the exhibition halls for both the exhibitors and the visitors.In his meeting with the Chief Executive of Hanover Messe, Stephan Kuthe, the ambassador apprised him of issues being faced by the Pakistani exhibitors with regard to obtaining timely business visa, especially by the new exhibitors.Kuthe assured that the matter will be taken up with the authorities concerned for its appropriate redressal. About 212 exhibitors from Pakistan participated in the world’s largest trade fair of textile products which included bed wears, towels, curtains, table wears, cushions, dresses and other related accessories. A total of 2,601 exhibitors from 80 different countries participated in this fair and Pakistan ranked 04 in terms of numbers of exhibitors from a single country.As many as 30 Pakistani companies participated in the Domotex Trade Fair of Carpets and floor matting products. According to the Fair management report about 40,000 professionals attended the fair while nearly 1400 exhibitors from 70 different countries put their products on display.Trade Development Authority of Pakistan sponsored the participation of 24 exhibitors in Domotex 2011. Designs of two Pakistani companies in the category of Best Traditional Nomadic and Best Modern Design standard won runner-up award in the “Carpet Design Award 2011 Competition – AAP
