Clerks plan bi-monthly demos across country

HYDERABAD: The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) has decided to hold two protest demonstrations in a month throughout Pakistan to press the government to accept their demands.This was announced here on Wednesday at an APCA seminar attended by association`s general secretary Murad Ali Chachar, additional secretary-general Khalid Javed Singhera, president of the association from Punjab Mukhtiar Rathore and a large number of delegates from all over Sindh.It adopted many resolutions and threatened to besiege the parliament house if their demands were not accepted.The seminar demanded establishment of a clerk foundation, grant of timescale allowance, 33 per cent employment quota for the offspring of retired/deceased clerks, regularisation of contract employees in Sindh and fixation of minimum wages at Rs20,000 per month.Another resolution demanded that salaries of clerks should be increased by 200 per cent, they should be given house rent, conveyance allowance, medical allowance and granted promotions from grade-1 to 5 if they had completed five years of service.Another resolution demanded that heirs of the deceased employees should be given employment within 40 days of death and the clerks should be given group insurance and benevolent fund on the day of their retirement – Dawn
