KARACHI: The 134th birth anniversary of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah would be marked today in the metropolis in a befitting manner.

An impressive change of guard ceremony would be held at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation. Cadets of the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA), Kakul will mount the guard at the Mazar. The PMA has the singular honour of being the only military institution designated as Quaid-e-Azam’s own. Quaid-e-Azam was the first and the only Colonel-in-Chief of the PMA Kakul.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah along with the provincial cabinet will lay floral wreaths and offer Fateha at the Mazar. People from various walks of life will visit the Mazar-e-Quaid to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.

Newspapers would publish articles on various aspects of the life, ideas and achievements of Quaid-e-Azam. The electronic media will also air special programmes on this very occasion.

A number of organisations have chalked out programmes to mark the birth anniversary of the Founder of the Nation.

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has urged the people to follow the teachings of Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah to make the country prosperous in the comity of the nations.

In a message here on Friday, the governor said that through his relentless efforts, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah won freedom from the British Raj.

“Our Quaid fought for a separate homeland for Muslims against the British Raj and the Indian Congress,” he said. The governor said that it was sheer dedication of the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam and his comrades, Pakistan was steered out of its initial problems. “It is now the responsibility of the younger generation to make Pakistan a sustainable and prosperous nation,” he added in his message.

Strict security: Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Miza has directed Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi Fayaz Leghari to ensure strict security arrangements at the Mazar-e-Qaid on the occasion of the birthday celebrations of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. In a statement here on Friday, he said that a large number of people and dignitaries would visit the Mazar on Dec 25 (today); therefore, the police should ensure proper deployment of police at and around the Mazar for foolproof security.

Mirza also directed that all police officers should be present in their areas and make sure strict snap checking. He asked them to remain in close coordination with other agencies, adding bomb disposal squads should ensure sweeping and clearance of the areas surrounding the Mazar – DailyTimes
