The Rangers personnel claimed to have arrested three accused, out of 17, for killing 14 people in the Shershah scrap market carnage, which happened over two months ago. According to the Rangers spokesman, on a tip-off about the presence of the Shershah firing incident’s culprits in Sango Lain, Lyari, Rangers conducted a raid and arrested them along with illegal weapons. Only the Rangers conducted the raid and the local police was not involved. The arrested have been identified as Shafi Muhammad, Aslam Pervaiz and Nawaz Ali. They were nominated in the FIR with 14 other culprits. The arrested culprits belong to the Lyari gang war group while the primary accused Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla and his accomplices have gone into hiding and the law enforcers have not yet been able to apprehend them. It may be mentioned here that the Pak Colony police station on October 22 registered an FIR bearing No 578/10 under section 302, 324/34, 7 Anti-Terrorist Act (ATA) against 17 accused including Baba Ladla, Nawab, Pervaiz, Shafi Magsi, Aijaz, Abid, Mullah Raju, Jawad, Iqbal, Akbar, Rasheed alias Waja, Imdad, Asghar, Tufail, his son Tahseen and others.

On October 19 over a dozen armed men riding on motorcycles entered the Shershah scrap market and started indiscriminate firing, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 people on the spot and two during treatment. The assailants after committing the atrocious crime escaped from the scene. Sources said the incident occurred after the shopkeepers refused to give extortion to the gang war criminals. – Dailytimes
