Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with UAE: President

ISLAMABAD : President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its cordial and friendly ties with the brotherly Muslim country UAE and desires to further cement the socio-economic and trade relations between the two countries.The President said this during his meeting with Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zeyed Al-Nahyan, Foreign Minister of United Arab Emirates (UAE) who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.Major Gen. Issa Al Mazrouei and Ali Saif Sultan Al Awani, UAE ambassador in Pakistan also accompanied the foreign minister. Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Interior was also present during the meeting.

Matters relating to Pakistan-UAE bilateral relations, mutual cooperation in various areas with particular focus on the promotion of trade and investment ties between the two countries, rehabilitation of flood affected people and regional situation were discussed during the meeting.The President appreciated the UAE’s government and the people for the generous support and assistance for the relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people in Pakistan and said that UAE has always been in the forefront to extend every possible support to the government and people of Pakistan in the hour of need.Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zeyed Al- Nahyan assured continued support of the UAE government in fighting extremism, rehabilitation of flood-victims and revival of the war and flood-it economy of Pakistan.The President also hosted dinner for Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zeyed Al- Nahyan, Foreign Minister of United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Aapp
