ECP starts work on options for holding general polls through EVMs

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has started work on three options for holding general elections 2013 through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) while local polls would be held according to present manual system.According to details provided by ministry of Law and Justice to Parliament, Election Commission of Pakistan has started consultation with concerned government departments for introducing EVM for general elections 2013.In this regard meetings with representatives of Telephone industry of Pakistan, KRL Foundation, Engineering council, Airports and National Institute of Electronics have been held. It has been told in the details, that local engineering department would make electronic voting machine while local department could cooperate with foreign company having required technology, on time of need.
