PESHAWAR: The first Pakhtunkhwa Games carrying 12 events will be commencing under the aegis of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association from November 4 at different venues. This was stated by Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association soon after presided over the meeting with acting Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Board Mir Bashar Khan, member of the organizing committee Jamshed Baloch, District Sports Officer from all the seven regions including Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and host Peshawar attended.He said the meeting thoroughly discussed ways and means for the smooth holding of the events. Zulfiqar Butt said that they have nominated Masood Ahmad as Secretary Organizing Committee. Masood Ahmad, he said, has vast experience as he is currently the Secretary General of the Pakistan Judo Federation.Zulfiqar Butt said that it was decided to hold the Games in four different phases with each phase have four events each. He said in the first phase women badminton, baseball, and athletic events will be organized, followed by Men badminton, volleyball, and squash.The decision of holding the games in different phases is to ensure accommodations to the players besides conducting each event in befitting manners.The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Games is test and selection process for the forthcoming 31st National Games so that teams could be selected on merits only.
He said all the districts have been divided in seven different regions but every district players would vie through their respective Regions. In Peshawar Regions Charsadda, Nowshera will be its part as in Kohat Region district like Karak, and Hangu, in Bannu Region Lakki Marwat, in Dera Ismail Khan district like Tank, in Abbottabad districts like Haripur, Mansehra, Kohistan, Batagram, District Swabi in Mardan Region, in Malakand Region district like Buner and Swat, Sangla, Upper Dir, Lower Dir and Chitral have been included. He said the funds have already allocated by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Board.
He said that they have asked all the association to conduct trials and ensure transparency in their rank. He said they would take all the District Sports Officers on board in both selection and organizational matters – App
