Miandad opens his complaint box again

LAHORE: Javed Miandad, former iconic cricketer of Pakistan and now Director General (DG) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has once again opened his complaint box.This time he is seen complaining about the fact that he is being sidelined and ignored by the Board especially in the matters of epic importance.Miandad frustrated at the scenario reminded the media that in a meeting with PCB Patron-In-Chief, President Asif Ali Zardari, some time back, he was assured that further authority, power, and responsibility will be vested upon his shoulders within the PCB.But this is not what was expected by the DG as the Board is not only ignoring the former skipper but is also not inviting him to have a say in important matters on both international and domestic cricket level.According to Miandad, President Zardari in the meeting had ordered him to take care of the cricket at both national and international levels in addition to supervising the government’s efforts for the promotion of cricket in People’s Republic of China.Miandad said that none of this has unexpectedly happened and he cannot at all now sit back with his mouth closed.Miandad in his announcement in the media alleging PCB said that the Board didn’t even bothered to consult him on deciding as to when to hold the national T20 championship in Lahore in addition to the decision about when to announce the squad for the South African T20 and One-day series.
Miandad was of the view that premature act of announcing the team before the T20 national championship is a childish act as the decision has destroyed the charm of the T20 and the excitement among the players adding that now the players of the T20 teams will have no incentive and motive to exhibit the very best out of them.Miandad who is against the holding of the T20 national championship at this moment further apprised that he did not attend the opening ceremony of the national T20 event not because he didn’t want to but because he was not invited by the officials despite of the fact that his name was on the guests list.
Further clarifying the incident, the former skipper said that he does admit that his name was announced but how could he attend an event when he was not given an invitation adding that it seems to him as a conspiracy of proving that he doesn’t want to work in the board and carry out his duties effectively Miandad in an aggressive way also has demanded an explanation from the concerned of not inviting him tin the important national event.Sources have revealed The Sports Encounter that Miandad has forwarded his complains to the PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt.The DG PCB, said that he wants to play an effective and positive role in the Board and therefore wants to genuinely participate in the cricket affairs of the country – Sportsencounter
