As many as 4,279 eligible members will cast their votes in Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Associate Class elections today (September 21). Polling will continue from 9:00 to 17:00 with a break for lunch and prayer. According to the final list, 18 candidates are in the run for eight seats of Associate Class.
The candidates include Muhammad Yousaf Shah, Fahim-ur-Rehman, Shahid Maqsood Butt, Sohail Azhar, Khawaja khawar Rasheed, Mian Maqsood Ali, Ilyas Majeed Sheikh, Chaudhry Wajid Ali, Sheikh Muhammad Munir, Sheikh Anis Arshad, Raja Hassan Akhtar, Muhammad Nawaz, Syed Irfan Ahmad, Muhammad Shakeel, Umer Farooq, Muhammad Rukhsan, Mian Shabbir Ahmad and Muhammad Yaseen.
As per the schedule, nomination papers of the office-bearers will be received on September 22, scrutiny will be held on September 23rd while the elections for new office-bearers will be held on September 25. Annual general meeting will be held on September 28th wherein final results of the elections will be announced and approval of accounts will be sought. New office-bearers will assume charge on October 1. It is pertinent to mention here that PIAF-Founders Alliance has already won seven Corporate Class seats and a seat reserved for women entrepreneurs as unopposed. -brecorder
