PESHAWAR, Sept 16 (APP): The Directorate of Sports FATA handed over five members cycling team here at its premises on Thursday. Muhammad Abid Majeed, Secretary Administration and Coordination FATA was the chief guest on this occasion who handed over five race cycles among the selected probables who would represent FATA in the forthcoming 58th National Cycling Championship to be held at Lahore from September 25-28.
Abid Majeed said that on the special directives of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Owais Ahmad Ghani it was decided to provide all sports equipments and uniform to the players of FATA.
He said initiatives have been taken to have sports facilities in all agencies headquarters besides facility of International Sports Complex which would have facilities for all games. He said that the Complex will have the facility of a separate hostel for both female and male in order to ensure accommodation facilities. “If we have accommodation facilities for the players we would be able to provide training and coaching to them for longer duration,” he remarked.
“We have sent a summary, putting all proposals that requires for holding national and international tournaments to the Governor and hopefully it would be approved soon.” Abid Majeed added.
He said that as desired by the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa initiative have been taken by awarding cash incentives to the players who performed well by recording good positions in different events at national level.
He said that FATA is full of talent in all games but due to lack of infrastructure and playing facilities such talent was wasted. “We are working on that to identify that talent and polish them so that they should come up at national and international levels,” Abid Majeed said.
Director Sports Faisal Jamil Shah on this occasion said that the cycles are for practice purposes. He said equipments of Bodybuilding and Weightlifting would also be distributed among the players soon. He said the team will leave for Lahore on September 24 before getting training under the supervision of coach Imran.
He also appreciated Imran for his dedicated efforts with the cyclists.
