Mix day for Pakistan as they slip to 9th in Asia Cup Bridge

Pakistan Open team has mixed day as they slipped to 9th in the inaugural Asia Cup Bridge Championship in Lingbo (China) after a narrow 14-16 loss to arch-rival India and 18-12 win over Bahrain on Saturday. Pakistan men team which was placed sixth after 15 rounds on Friday, slided three places and are occupying 9th spot after 17 rounds with 289 Victory Points (VPs).However, with two easy games to go against the lower half teams on Sunday, Pakistan still can manage to finish among the top five with big wins on the final day.

Chinese Taipei which suffered defeat at the hands of Pakistan, surged on the top in the open team competition with 330 VPs. Day five leaders, Indonesia were relegated to second spot 328 VPs. China Hong Kong (319) and hosts China (310) are placed at third and fourth sport respectively.

Like the men team, Pakistan women team also slipped to 11th spot from 9th after playing a 15-15 draw with Sri Lanka.

China is leading women competition with 272 VPs followed by Chinese Taipei (238), Indonesia (230). -Ftpapp
