LAHORE,Aug 25 (APP): Chairman,Senate Sub Committee on Sports,Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi has termed the exclusion of former captain Younis Khan from the one-day and T-20 Pakistan squad as “ unjustified “ and a unfair decision. “ Younis is a very experienced player and his presence could have enforced the middle order but unfortunately he was excluded on the personal will of Chairman,Pakistan Cricket Board,Muhammad Ijaz Butt”,he told APP on Wednesday.
He said it is the larger interest of Pak cricket that the Chairman PCB should not intervene in the selection of team.
“ Both the chief selector,Mohsin Khan and captain, Shahid Afridi were of the view that Younis should have been selected but sadly Chairman PCb did not give clearance to include him in the squad”,he added.
He said Muhammad Yousaf on his return to test cricket put up good performance and his presence strengthened the middle order and lifted the overall batting performance.
“ We firmly believe that Younis deserves a place in the team as he carries a lot of experience as a batsman and Chairman PCB took a unwise decision not to include him “,he said.
Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi said the meeting of the sub committee which was to be held tomorrow,Thursday, has been postponed and will now be held after eid-ul-firt.
The committee has summoned Chairman PCB who had earlier not attended the August 17 meeting owing to his engagements abroad.
