India plans to install a patrol-free multi-layered smart fence along its border with Pakistan and Bangladesh by the end of 2017, Indian Border Security Chief KK Sharma said on Thursday.

He said they are waiting for the Home Ministry to sanction the implementation of a comprehensive integrated border management system, which would make surveillance an automated process.
