Pakistani designer presents his collection at London Fashion Week

LONDON: The UK-based Pakistani designer Omar Mansoor unveiled  his eagerly-awaited fourth collection titled ‘  Garden of Eden’ based on the 17th century English poet John Milton’s poem ‘Paradise Lost’  for the London Fashion Week here  Saturday.Mansoor, the  first Pakistani designer to go on  ramp  in London Fashion Week,has been participating  in the event for the last three years. He  has been designing costumes  for royalties, television and film celebrities and socialites.The theme for this years collection was Garden of Eden based on Milton’s Poem  ‘Paradise Lost.’Mansoor has made costumes for upcoming English film, ‘the Venus and the Sun’ and  his   exclusive collection for Royal Ascot  Racing 2010 added a new dimension to an event enshrined in British tradition and history for its iconic dresses.He has also dressed a number of leading British celebrities and members of high society.The brand Omar Mansoor is synonymous with fusion couture as mixing the Eastern embellishments with Western cuts has been his  signature style. His designs have been exceptionally well received at the London and Wimbledon Fashion Weeks.Building on his successes at the fashion weeks in London and with the support of his clientele, Mansoor showcased at the Bahrain Fashion Week.For the London Fashion Week this year Mansoor  used two colours primarily to fuse with the theme. The colour palette included romantic pale purple, lilac, lavender, aniseed green and olive.Mansoor, has supported many charitable causes. He has done shows for many charities in UK and Pakistan, namely BBC Children in Need, British Heart Foundation, Breast Cancer Campaign.Hailing from a textile family, Mansoor  had a flair  for fashion from an early age and wanted to pursue it as a career since he was a teenager. After finishing his MBA, he formally studied fashion at the prestigious London College of Fashion.Most of the material used is produced in Asia, mainly China . Pure silks and luxury fabrics are preferred for couture making with the embellishment done in Pakistan – APP
