Sindh Govt to host All Parties’ Conference on April 30

KARACHI: The Sindh Government will host an All Parties’ Conference (APC) here on April 30 to apprise the representatives of political parties of the administrative, logistic and security arrangements made for the forthcoming general elections.

Caretaker Prime Minister, Justice (Retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso was informed Friday about these arrangements in detail during a meeting chaired by him at Sindh Governor House to review law and order situation in the province. He was apprised that the Conference will also be attended by international observers who will be visiting the country to monitor the general elections 2013.The meeting was also attended by Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Caretaker Chief Minister, Justice (Retd) Zahid Kurban Alavi, representatives of law enforcing agencies, heads of intelligence agencies, representatives of provincial administration and senior officials of PM’s secretariat.

Sindh Chief Secretary, Mohammad Ejaz Chaudri in a detailed briefing to the Prime Minister said a complete security plan has been prepared by the provincial government for smooth conduct of general elections.This plan, he said has already been approved by Chief Election Commissioner, Justice (Retd)Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim. Sindh Chief Secretary briefed the PM,Justice (Retd)Hazar Khan Khoso about the overall security situation in the province and the measures taken by the provincial government to ensure security of candidates and the political leadership.

The caretaker Prime Minister responding to a submission forwarded by the Sindh Chief Secretary issued immediate directives to the Ministry of Power for ensuring un-interrupted power supply across the country from the evening of May 10 to early May 12, that is,for 36 hours.

The provision will facilitate the electoral process that ought to remain unaffected and must continue smoothly, agreed the dignitaries attending the meeting. Caretaker Chief Minister,Justice (Retd) Zahid Kurban Alavi told the PM thathe had personally visited interior parts of the province to get first hand knowledge of the issues that relateto law and order and the conduct of elections in Sindh. “We have encouraged the people to come out of their homesand exercise heirright of vote,” said the Caretaker CM of Sindh.

The Caretaker PM on the occasion expressed his satisfaction over thearrangements made by the Government of Sindh for holding general elections with optimum care for the public and the contestants’ security. He also held out an assurance to the provincial governmentthat the federalgovernment will extend all possible assistancein holding peaceful, fair, free, transparent and credibleelections. – App
