ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday appreciated efforts of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to help the most vulnerable segments of the society through its initiatives.Talking to BISP Chairperson Ms. Farzana Raja here at the PM House, he directed her to expedite completion of poverty survey to add more deserving families into the social security net. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over BISP’s plans to expand operations from existing three million to five million families, soon after completion of the poverty survey.He said the income assistance programme has been acknowledged as a significant development by the international partners and institutions.The Prime Minister said he would soon inaugurate a vocational training centre for imparting training to women belonging to down-trodden segments of the society to enable them to earn their own livelihood.
Ms. Farzana Raja briefed the Prime Minister about slated programmes for the current fiscal year. She informed the Prime Minister that the poverty survey was expected to be completed by July 2011 and the assistance programme would be expended to cover a large number of more needy families – App
