Looters will be held accountable: Shahbaz

CM Shahbaz SharifLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that pickpockets and looters will be held accountable for their deeds and national resources will be utilised only for the welfare of the masses.

The CM said this while inaugurating a model Basti Shahbaz Nagar constructed for the residents of kachi abadies in Faisalabad.At the same time, he also talked about establishing a college for girls as well as a vocational training institute for the youth where they could be taught modern vocational skills. He informed that the Punjab government had provided more than 12 acre land free-of-cost for the construction of Shahbaz Nagar.

Shahbaz said that a welfare residential scheme constructed for the poor, widows and deserving persons with the financial assistance provided by local philanthropists and industrialists was a shining example of a welfare state. Further appreciating the effort, he said that the residential scheme provided proper sewerage system, cemented streets, playgrounds, water-filtration plant, mosque, commercial market and other basic necessities of life to the people belonging to the underprivileged sector of society.

Residential schemes similar to Shahbaz Nagar would be introduced in other cities across the province as well, he said.Separately, while addressing party workers on the occasion of Eidul Azha, Shahbaz said that workers were a precious asset of the party and they should support him in serving the masses and solving their problems.Separately, the CM also visited the Services and Mayo Hospitals on the Eid day.

He went to different wards and reviewed the medical facilities being provided to the patients there. He also went to the dengue wards and High Dependency Units in the hospitals, inquired after the health of each patient and prayed for their early recovery. He distributed Eid gifts among the patients and also provided financial assistance to the poor patients.In connection with the Iqbal Day, the CM visited the Mazar-e-Iqbal on Wednesday and laid floral wreath and offered Fateha at the tomb. – Dailytimes
