LAHORE: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has announced Rs 20 million in grant for the Lahore High Court Bar Association and Rs 10 million for the Lahore Bar Association.
He made the announcement at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Lawyers Hospital, to be constructed on Dev Samaj Road, at the Governor’s House here on Sunday. The Prime Minister also constituted a Committee comprising Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa, Evacuee Trust Property Board Chairman Syed Asif Hashmi, LHC Bar Association President Asghar Gil and Lahore Bar Association President Shahzad Hassan Sheikh.
The Committee after assessing the estimated cost of the hospital, would forward its recommendations to the Federal Government, which would release funds for the lawyer hospital accordingly.On the request of the LBA President, Gilani also offered free medical treatment of lawyer Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmed at Sheikh Zayed Hospital, and added if the patient wanted to get treatment from any other hospital of his choice, he would be provided with Rs 2.5 million from Baitul Maal. – APP
