THARPARKER : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday said the government would redress the grievances of flood victims at the earliest and assured full compensation after damage assessment.Addressing the flood-affected people at the Bani Sar Camp here, the Prime Minister said the government would leave no stone unturned to mitigate the sufferings of flood victims.The Prime Minister arrived in Umerkot on the second leg of his two-day tour to Sindh’s affected areas, where rains had brought havoc and inundated large areas leaving thousands homeless.Gilani directed the authorities concerned to take all out measures to provide proper shelter, edibles and medical facilities.
He announced Rs 20,000 for each affected family.He asked the elected representatives to come forward and actively participate in relief work and facilitate the affected people.The Prime Minister said Tharparker had been declared as disaster-hit area and stressed the need for working day and night to overcome the challenges in the wake of floods including breakout of epidemics.He said compensation would be provided to assist the affected families in reconstruction of their houses.The Prime Minister said natural disasters could not be avoided, but the human efforts could be increased to lessen their after-effects by taking prompt measures.He assured religious minorities that they would be given equal priority in provision of all facilities. – APP
