LAHORE: Pakistan Olympic Association has formed “Sports for All Commission“ to encourage and support the efforts and developments disseminating the health and social benefits to be gained by all members of society through regular physical activity. President, Pakistan Boxing Federation,Doda Khan Bhutto has been appointed Convenor of the 7-member committee whose other members are Brig. ® Arif Mahmood Siddiqui, President, IOA, Fawzi Khawaja, President Pakistan Rugby Union, Col.Shujaat Ali Rana, President, Pakistan Judo Federation, Taimur Hassan, Secretary, Pakistan Golf Federation, Parveen Sikandar Gill, Lady Member, POA, Muhammad Jahangir, President, Pakistan Karate Federation,said a spokesman of POA here on Saturday,According to IOC, Sport for All is a movement promoting the Olympic Ideal that sport is a human right of all individuals regardless of race, social class and sex. The movement encourages sports activities that can be exercised by people of all ages, both sexes and different social and economic conditions.
The responsibilities of the commission includes tp study and equip with the information and guidelines relating to policies, functions and decision of IOC Sport For All Commission and OCA Sport For All Committee and maintain regular coordination and communication with them to receive the latest feedbacks.To advise the President POA on what policy the POA should adopt in terms of Sport For All activities in line with the IOC guidelines.
To propagate the awareness in the field of sports and to coordinate with the various sports organizations and community groups to organize the sport for all activities.To hold meetings of POA Sport For All Commission atleast twice a year with agenda as decided by the Chairman of the Commission with the consultation of the President POA. – APP
