LAHORE: PML-N while announcing support to anti-government movements, pledged to sacrifice its rule in Punjab for protecting the honour of the judiciary. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday stated this while addressing a Press conference at party’s headquarters in Model Town.He made it clear that his party was ready for any sacrifice including Punjab Government for the respect of the judiciary.
‘We will leave no stone unturned to get the orders of judiciary implemented and I declare an open war against those who are making mockery of apex court’s orders. The government is not abiding by the orders of the judiciary in order to hide its corruption and loot of its coalition partners’, he said.Shahbaz vowed to fight against PPP, saying PPP had challenged the orders of Supreme Court and declared war against judiciary.
He said: ‘we accept this challenge whether we will have to sacrifice our lives, money or rule for the cause’.He further said if the PPP continued on this path, the society would be led towards a path of destruction and anarchy which would be more dangerous than the ongoing violence in Karachi, Peshawar, Balochistan and others parts of the country. He said PPP and its coalition partners were ready to do every illegal thing in order to hide their corruption.
He urged all the segments of the society including traders, civil society, lawyers, teachers, youth and masses to wake up for the honour of judiciary and against the corrupt elements.‘The masses understand that justice and democracy are impossible without honouring the orders of courts. The people had sacrificed a lot for the restoration of judiciary and their sacrifices would not go waste.
The rulers should keep in mind that the masses will once against come on roads for implementation of court orders’, he added. While criticising the role of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani regarding disobeying the court’s order, the Chief Minister said, ‘President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister are equally responsible for current situation. The Prime Minister is not only Chief Executive of the country but also the Member of the Parliament and is accountable before the House’.
He further said it was the need of the hour to take essential measures for the dignity of judiciary ,otherwise, the history would not forgive us.‘We have decided that the behaviour of Federal government towards court orders will not be tolerated any more and we will spare no effort to overcome the illegitimate motives of the rulers’, he added.
While responding to a query, Shahbaz Sharif said it was the first time ever in the history of the country that the orders of the courts were being dishonoured. He said the government’s efforts to hide their corruption would lead the country towards disorder and anarchy and if the blatant violation of court orders continued, his party would be forced to take the needful steps to put things on the right track. To another query, he said PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif would call party meeting very soon to decide the further line of action. He said the NRO had become the noose around Zardari’s neck and he did not want an independent judiciary.
Talking about alliance of other political parties for the expected move against PPP-led government, he said they would welcome all stake-holders and hoped that they would become the part of the movement for eradication of corruption from the country, adding, the time had come to do efforts for bringing back each plundered penny.Shahbaz Sharif said if the judiciary would use Article 190 of the Constitution to get implemented its orders, not only the Army but the other State institutions would also come to the aid of judiciary.
He said the doors of reconciliation with PPP had been closed and PML-N would fight against plunderers and looters of national wealth. He also urged the media to play its role for the honour of the judiciary.Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rahman were also present on the occasion. – Nation
