US to supply 85 drones to Pakistan

The drone aircraft is manufactured by the US-based company AeroVironment Inc.A United States military official said on Thursday that the US will provide Pakistan with 85 small ‘Raven’ drone aircraft.The military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, declined to disclose the cost or model of the non-lethal, short-range aircraft. The drone aircraft is powered by an electric motor, and due to the small size of the aircraft, it is launched by hand.The drone can fly up to 10 kilometres and up to altitudes of 15,000 feet above sea level. The drone is also capable of flying up to speeds of 45–90 kilometres per hour.Let it be known that Pakistan was seeking the drone technology from the United States but they refused. However, the US has now agreed to provide Pakistan with 85 small nonlethal drone aircrafts. This would be a key step for calls made by Pakistan for access to US drone technology. – Dunyanews
