Forensic lab to function from next month

LAHORE – First-ever international standard forensic laboratory to investigate high-level criminal cases will start its work in Lahore from next month while a deal has also been reached for Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to probe crimes and to interlink their related date through latest information technology.
The laboratory costing Rs 2.5 billion has set up with the cooperation of US at 30 kanals land near Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore. The US has provided latest equipment for the laboratory and a team comprising 32 experts has been trained in the America. Different departments have been set up in the laboratory which include audio video research, computer forensic, probe into crime death scene, DNA, Firearms, Fingerprints, Drugs, Forensic Pathology, Forensic Photography, Polygraph, Trace Chemistry, Investigation, Serology, Investigation of documents and others. Professional scientists having expertise in their field are being appointed in the laboratory while international consultants will also serve in it – Nation
