LAHORE: The first Tulip Flower Show 2011 was inaugurated at the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club by Governor Punjab Latif Khosa on Wednesday.Over 200 flower admirers and 250 special children from the Rising Sun Institute participated in the event. The governor and the guests were mesmerised by the display of over 14,000 tulip flowers. Speaking to the guests and special children, Latif Khosa said that he was really impressed with the way Royal Palm had successfully managed to maintain and preserve the beauty of the club’s natural surroundings. He further said that he really liked the old trees there that gave an amazing feel. He complimented the management of the Royal Palm club, especially the technical staff who worked devotedly to add excellence to the Tulip Flower Show.
The governor also spoke to the special children and inquired about their education. Some of the special students participated in a sketching competition, and their drawings were appreciated by the visitors.The flower show will continue for two more days and will open to growers and flower lovers on February 10, the final day of the show. Members of the Amateur Gardening Club will also attend the show. Also present on the occasion was Royal Palm CEO Ramzan Sheikh, who was recently awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and Rising Sun Institute for special children head Parveen Tawab, Nosheen Sarfraz, who is also an expert horticulturist, and a large number of students from the National College of Arts – Dailytimes
