LAHORE: After two rounds of accurate shot making and some extremely good work around and on the true greens of Royal Palm Golf and Country Club par 72 golf course, Shahid Abbas emerged as the triumphant one in the 36 holes stroke-play contest here on Monday. And this he did by keeping experienced opponents like Amir Mehmood, Sardar Murad, Mohsin Zafar and Shoaib Bokhari away from the prestigious crown. For him it turned out to be an individual feat of prowess, which is bound to encourage him to spend regular hours at the golf course to seek more honours during 2011.In the final, Amir Mehmood did make a charge to dislodge Shahid but ultimately found Shahid a determined competitor who did not break and towards the closing holes matched him stroke for stroke, never letting up on his seven stroke advantage of the earlier session. Shahid ended up the championship with an aggregate gross score of 157 followed by Amir at 162, Mohsin Zafar at 165 and Sardar Murad also at 165. As regards the other events, the gross order of merit went to Shoaib Bokhari and net first was achieved by Ale Imran.
