LANDI KOTAL: An oil tanker, supplying fuel to Nato forces in Afghanistan, was completely gutted in a blast in Ali Masjid area of Khyber Agency on Monday.
Sources said that the tanker was on its way to Afghanistan via Torkham when a time device, already planted in it, exploded. The vehicle, carrying about 40,000 litres fuel, caught fire. Huge flames also caused suspension of traffic on the main Peshawar-Torkham Road for at least three hours. Local officials also suspended Nato supplies on Monday for security reasons.
Meanwhile, two khasadars received injuries and a tubewell and a room were also partially damaged when a gas cylinder exploded accidentally at Takhta Beg checkpost in Jamrud on Monday.
In Bara tehsil, unidentified persons torched the house of a Levies man, Sardar Alam. The house was completely gutted.
PESHAWAR: Suspected militants attacked a police checkpost in Bara Qadeem area on main Peshawar-Bara Road in the limits of Sarban police station on Monday.
Police said that unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade on the checkpost. A constable identified as Niamat Khan was injured in the attack. Police said that the checkpost was situated near tribal areas and militants could easily sneak into the region. “We reached there within minutes but attackers escaped,” they said – Dawn
