Seeding of player for COAS squash tournament announced

LAHORE: Farhan Mehboob has been top seeded in men and Saima Shoukat is number one seed in the main round of men and women of Chief of Army Staff Open squash tournament being played from April 20 at Mushaf Ali Mir squash complex Islamabad. Men will be competing for a total cash prize of Rs 400,000 while women would vie for a reward of Rs 86000,said Tariq Farooq Rana,Secretary, Punjab Squash Association,the host of the event, while talking to APP on Thursday.He said the seedings of the players have been established based on their performance in the national events.Secretary PSA said in the men ranking Waqar Mehboob, Yasir Butt,Mansoor Zaman and Danish Atlas has been seeded number second,third fourth and fifth respectively. Other ranked players are Farhan Zaman (6th),Waqas Mehboob (7th),Aqib Hanif (8th), Nasir Iqbal (9th) and Mujahid Hussain (10th).Women ranking is Zahab Khan number second seed, Zoya Mehboob (3rd), Rushan Mehboob (4th) and Habiba Khan (5th).

Rana said President,PSA, Ajmad Ali Khan Noon has formed a number of committees for the smooth conduct of the event.He said President,Askari Bank, Rafiq ud Din Mekari will be the chief guest on opening of the main rounds on April 20.He said qualifying rounds of the prestigious event will be played on April 18-19 and thirty two players will feature in it.Following players will take part in the qualifying rounds: Safeer ullah, Bilal Zakir,Hamza Bukhari, Aurangzeb Mehmud, Alam Zeb Jr, Abbas Ali, Adil Atlas,Mamoon Rahid, Naveed Khan, Mahad Javed, Kashif Khan, Shoaib Hassan, Khalid Atlas,Shah Nawaz, Riaz Hussain, Mohammad Naeem, Murtaza Yousaf, Tariq Khan, Safiullah Kakar, Naveed Atlas,Yasir Sarwar,Fahad Kakar,Sadam ul Haq,Ahmed Amin,Noor Ali Khan, Moin Rauf, Ali Bokhari, Aamad Fareed, Naqash Shahid ,Raees Khan,Tayyab Aslam and Shahid Hussain.Secretary PSA said the winner of the men event will receive a cash prize of Rs 80000.The final will be played on April 23.
