ANGALORE: As the Japanese continue to battle multiple disasters triggered by the earthquake and tsunami, one of the country’s top sportspersons Tomoyuki Matsuda, who survived the nature’s fury, has battled the nightmares to win two gold medals at the World Cup shooting in Sydney.”I think I gained positive momentum from the earthquakes,” Matsuda said after climbing the podium. “There are people who are forced to have tougher life than I do. I left my family in Japan to come here, and I had to achieve the result. The pressure was high. I felt the responsibility to perform well. I guess the results came from the responsibility I was feeling,” the 35-year-old Matsuda, who dedicated his two victories to his homeland, told the ISSF website. – TOI
