Karachi: Mind Sports Association of Pakistan in its bid to provide facilities and training programme to the Mind Sports, has taken up the training programmes in all related mind sport. Pakistan Bridge Team had earlier qualified to represent Pakistan in the Bermuda Bowl, World Bridge Championship to be held at Veldhoven, Netherlands in October next.
The national team, comprising Tahir Masood, Javed Ahmed, Hasan Askari, Hasan Jawad, Rashidul Ghazi, Tehsin Gheewala with them NPC, Tariq Rasheed Khan. Apart from the national team, Mubashir Puri, Khalid Mohiuddin, Hasan Rasheed Khan and Ehsan Abbasi are also actively attached to this Workshop.
They are the first beneficiaries of this training programme conducted by Mr. Junaid Said as per the Kokish Training Manual. These guidelines are being used to enable better partnership understanding in bidding systems, defensive carding and other key factors of duplicate bridge.
On Thursday, the participants were given specialized hands to tackle with their Bidding System and partnership understanding. That is how far the partners bidding may take up effectively, in accordance with the understanding of the systems and agreements on conventional bids. Next day, the participants were given hands to judge their Defensive methods, opening leads, signalling and carding.
In next two days, their partnership will be tested for dummy play and defense.The Workshop was started on Thursday, 21st July and will continue till Sunday. Mr. Junaid Saeed and Farrukh Liqauat, two young bridge enthusiasts from Lahore are conducting this Workshop with the technical support provided by Syed Ameer Hasan and Umair Kauser. Mr. Junaid Said has taken special training for coaching by the world’s leading bridge teacher, Eric Kokish, who is also engaged by World Champions USA for training and coaching purposes.
