The Annual Junior Sports Competitions held at various state of the art sports arenas of Royal Palm Golf and Country Club concluded yesterday after five days of hectic and intense competitions in football,golf,cricket,tennis,swimming,squash,fitness and martial arts.
These competitions were held subsequent to 45 days of Summer Coaching Camp where the talented and keen youngsters underwent coaching under expert supervision and it was heartening to see over 150 youngsters displaying and demonstrating their passion for sports and unmindful of the heat,competing in the sporting events.Of course the most popular sports turned out to be football,golf,tennis,swimming,fitness and martial arts.
Participation in these sports was huge and the eager ones ranging in age brackets below six and from there onto above fifteen years made their mark by displaying appreciable application of techniques and ample courage under competitive conditions to produce awesome performances.In football,the team comprising Afnan Shahid,Azan Tanveer,Taha Hameed,Zain Tariq and Hamza Tariq dribbled their hearts out to emerge victorious over the fighting combination of Ismail Elahi,Mujtaba Amjad,Ali Mikael Qizilbash,Muhammed bn Asim and Musa.Golf was dominated by Hamza Irfan,Ahmad Yar,Easa Sheikh,Zainab Haroon,Bilal Mustafa,Hamza Shiraz and Zara Irfan and the coach Siraj and Director Golf Col(r) Jamil Khalid were all praise for them.Names in the forefront in tennis were Muhammed Hussain Javed,Saad Nawaz,(boys),Zarnab Ansari and Zainab Mansoor(girls).
Cricketing top notchers were Ali Turab,Ibrahim,Momin Saigol,Abdul Nafay, Anis Kamal and Waleed Khalid.Swimming produced some notable talent in freestyle event and Ismail Najeeb Vohar,Haider Aziz Sheikh,Taha Zafar and Asfandyar are names to be followed in boys section and Abeer Tanveer,Rushna Shoaib,Sarah Tajjamal Hussain and Saba Rana amongst girls.Martial Arts was dominated by Sibtain Raza and Sheryar Hamayun and leading ones in Fitness were Talha Yousaf,Rana Junaid,Alizay Jibran and Palvashay Shehryar.
Squash competition was won by Asad Tajjamal and Haider Ali Abbasi was runner up.Qalco Lubricants sponsored the event and the Chief of Qalco was extremely impressed with the talent and urge of kids and committed to continue support of this activity.The top performers were awarded prizes in a grand prize distribution ceremony attended by over 500 parents and Rana N.Fuad,Chief of Qatar Lubricants distributed prizes alongwith Omar Mir,General Manager,Royal Palm.
