In the Shezan International backed 2nd Quaid e Azam Open Golf Championship contested at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course over 54 holes, Matloob Ahmed of Garrison Golf Club emerged as the title winner after successfully curbing the charge of champions like M.Munir(U Fone) and Shabbir Iqbal(Islamabad).
Throughout the final round Matloob Ahmed remained a champion in command and it was only for a few moments in the final go that Munir looked like taking over from the ultimate winner but steady and consistently classy play won the day and the occasion for Matloob.He ended the championship with an aggregate score of 205,eleven under par as against a score of 208 by M.Munir.
Matloob looked like a champion delighted with his own performance and when he putted the final 18th hole,and stated that “I consider myself a very fortunate man today as I have won the Quaid Title”.He further said that the Gymkhana Golf Course was in great shape and the perfect roll on the greens certainly went to my advantage.
