Tiger exits with left leg injuryTiger Woods withdrew from the WGC-Cadillac Championship on Sunday, saying he had suffered a left leg injury.

On Saturday, Woods had said, “I feel great.” But on Sunday, Woods, three over for the day at Doral, was limping at No. 10 and changed shoes, then continued play on as he flexed and favored his leg. He quit after his second shot on the 12th hole and was driven to the parking lot on a golf cart. He was handed ice packs by attendants and drove away in a black Mercedes — with the scene captured for TV viewers by a blimp.“I felt tightness in my left Achilles when I was warming up this morning, and it got progressively worse throughout the day,” Woods said in a statement released by a representative.

“After hitting the tee shot at 12, I decided to withdraw. In the past I might’ve decided to continue to play, but this time I decided to do what I thought was necessary. …“I will get my Achilles evaluated sometime early next week.”The left leg is the one on which Woods has had four knee operations. Only last year Woods, 36, hurt his knee and Achilles in the Masters, then withdrew from the Players in May. He didn’t play again for four months.

Woods has ramped up his schedule, playing last week in the Honda Classic. He is scheduled to play in an exhibition March 19-20, and the Arnold Invitational at Bay Hill in two weeks, his last tournament before the Masters.“I felt tightness in my left Achilles when I was warming up this morning, and it got progressively worse throughout the day,” Woods said in a statement released by a representative. “After hitting the tee shot at 12, I decided to withdraw.
