The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary on Tuesday wrote off resumption of bilateral cricket ties between India and Pakistan in 2016. Thakur clearly said the two arch rivals will face-off only in big international tournaments.

“No series planned against Pakistan this year. India will only play against them in multi-national tournaments,” Thakur told ANI.
The arch rivals were scheduled to play a bilateral series in December last year in the UAE, according to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and BCCI in 2014. However, the series could not take place after BCCI stepped back from the accord. Pakistan and India will lock horns in the T20 Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20 in 2016.

The former will be held in Bangladesh from February 24 while the latter will take place in India from March 8. Pakistan and India last played a full bilateral series in 2007. However, Pakistan toured India for a short series in 2012.
