Sri Lanka beat England by 6 wickets to clinch the ODI series 3-2

Sri Lanka beat England by 6 wickets to win the final match of the five-match series at Birmingham today to win the series 3-2. Sri Lanka restricted England for 219 in the 48th over after the hosts won the toss and decided to bat.

Lasith Malinga took three wickets and Ajantha Mendis took two while Sachithra Dissanayake mankaded Jos Butler. In reply Sri Lanka steadily scored with Mahela Jayawardena posting 53 and Lahiru Thirimanne scoring 60 runs while Angelo Mathews supported the tail end with 42. Man of the Match is vice-captain Lahiru Thirimanne for his excellent half-century and Lasith Malinga is the Man of the series. Sri Lanka also clinched the one-match T20 series against England. -colombopage
