national-twenty20-cupFAISALABAD: Rawalpindi Rams outclassed Karachi Dolphins in a thrilling final to lift the National Twenty20 Cup at Iqbal Stadium here on Friday night. The final was decided in the super over after the match was tied. Rams scored 16-0 while Dolphins could muster only 7 for the loss of one wicket in their respective super over. Rams received cash prize of Rs25,00,000/- while runners-up Dolphins earned Rs10,00,000/-. Man of the match Sohail Khan pocketed Rs50,000/-.

Earlier, Rammez Raja played a dazzling knock of 64 runs to help Dolphins reach 164 for the loss of 5 wickets after they were put to bat. Rammez faced 46 balls and hammered 4 boundaries and 6 sixes. Asad Shafiq and Khalid Latif also played fine innings of 36 each to supplement the efforts of Rameez. In reply, Rams’ innings saw many ups and downs before they levelled the score. Pacer Sohail Khan was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 5 scalps for 23 runs. At one time, it seemed that Rams would lose the match but lady-luck played its part. Awais Zia (43), Umar Amin (not out 32), Adnan Mufti (31) and Hammad Azam (23) played their part for their team’s victory. Dailytimes
